The Opening of the Magna Grecia Collection at MANN

The summer program is opening on Thursday, July 4th, at 9.00 pm, in the magnificent setting of the Terrace under the stars. The appointment for the series “Great Meetings at the MArRCis with the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. Paolo Giulierini, who will present the Opening of the Magna Grecia Collection at MANN.

The initiative is in collaboration with the International Writers’ Center of Calabria.

Introduced by: the director of the MArRC Carmelo Malacrino and the president of CIS Calabria Loreley Rosita Borruto.

The Magna Graecia Collection is one of the richest and most valuable collections of Magna Graecian antiquities merged into the Museum of the Kingdom of Naples as called at the time, between the second half of the Eighteenth Century and the beginning of the Twentieth Century. The director Giulierini will present the new exhibition itinerary, centered on the theme of coexistence between cultures and the complexity of the system of relations between the different communities in the South of Italy before Romanization. The works of the Collection were exposed to the public the last time on the occasion of an exhibition in 1996. Among the items worthy of mention there is the votive material coming from the excavations in the area the ancient Locri Epizefiri, in particular from the Sanctuary in the Parapezza district, dedicated to Demeter.
